New Delhi: The Annual Plan size of Kerala for 2008-2009 has been estimated at Rs 7,700 crore, inclusive of additional Central Assistance of Rs 100 crore for projects of special importance to the State. This was finalised here on Jan 9 at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achutanandan. The Planning Commission is in support of maximising flexibility and would welcome suggestions from States. Mr Ahluwalia said the State Government will work for giving better infrastructure for higher education, skill development and tourism. The Planning Commission congratulated the State for continued emphasis on social sector development.
