Kerala Cabinet Approves ''08-09 Annual Plan

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cabinet has cleared the annual Plan for 2008-09, with an outlay of Rs 7,605 crore, as drafted by the State Planning Board. The Planning Board, which met last week, had decided to increase the outlay for the year by Rs 655 crore over the current year''s Rs 6,950 crore. The focus areas of the Plan will be agriculture, industry, traditional industries, information technology and tourism. The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, told after the Cabinet meeting on Dec 18 that he would hold discussions with the Planning Commission to finalise the annual Plan during his visit to Delhi to attend the National Development Council meeting.
