The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to announce 12 schemes costing Rs 3,987 crore in memory of Bahujan Samaj Party''s founder Kanshiram on his first death anniversary on October 9. Manyawar Kanshiram Ji Museum and Manyawar Kanshiram Ji Yaadgar Vishram Sthal will be constructed by the UP Institute of Technology, Lucknow, and the Estates Department with the help of the Technical Education Department. The Manyawar Kanshiram Ji International Sports Award will be instituted and the Manyawar Kanshiram Ji Child Hospital will be founded. This hospital will be constructed by the Health Department. The hospital will be a 500-bed multi-specialty one. Krishan said poor people would get free treatment at the hospital, proposed to be constructed in a 15-acre plot on the Lucknow-Varanasi National highway. On the premises of this hospital, a child hospital will be constructed at Rs 14 crore. An institute of technology is proposed to be set up on the Lucknow-Hardoi road at Rs 500 crore. He said the Kanshiram memorial would be constructed in 60 acres at Rs 253 crore, where an 18-foot bronze statue of Kanshiram would be installed.
A garden in memory of Kanshiram, spread over 100 acres, is also being planned at Rs 30 crore. In this garden an 18-feet-high bronze statue of Kanshiram and Chief Minister Mayawati will also be installed. An international convention centre named after Kanshiram will be constructed on the banks of the river Gomti at Rs 100 crore. The Centre, to come up on public-private partnership, will also have an auditorium having a capacity to accommodate 1,500 people. A government bungalow, allotted lifelong to Mayawati, in Mall Avenue will be converted into Kanshiram Rest House at Rs 12 crore, while the present state office of the BSP will be converted into Kanshiram Museum at Rs 15 crore.
